Before she was my wife, she used to give me some grief now and then. But I explained to her that I had been buying and selling cars and parts for more than a decade with it being pretty rare that I ever spent out of pocket for something because I had built up so much "equity" in my stash.
Then we got married and she was ok with it for a while. That was until I got up to 8 vehicles, with only 2 of them running.

And I had spent several thousands of dollars to get to that point. Then her sharp memory bit me in the arse. She basically told me that I was cut off. She reminded me how I had bragged that "The Ghetto Garage" was fully self supporting through it's own contributions (like AA). At which point I made her a promise. I promised that going forward all my project money would come out of what I already own.
That's why when I bought the '68 911t last fall I sold both my '76 912e and my '70 914. I needed to get out of both cars to get into the '68.
Now I'm looking at selling the Bumble Bee because I want to spend some real money on a spare engine and gearbox for the '68. 110bhp and 4 spds doesn't cut it for me. I need a 2.4l and 5spds, so I'm prepping a car for sale. I'm ok with it.
