I may be wrong but I hope not because I just bought one but the 83 Cabriolet is a one year only car and the first 911 cab. I think they are a good investment, I sat around waiting to buy a 356 and now the value is though the roof. Four years ago I had a chance to buy a 63 356 cab and passed on it the guy wanted 26.5K needing total restoration I offered 20K. Anyhow a friend of mines brother bought the car and restored it and has been offered a 100K for it.
I don't know if the first 911 cab will ever do anything like this but I don't think they are going to get cheaper, and sitting around waiting for one is not the thing to do or you'll be like me standing there saying I remember when. I say if your buddy wants to pay that much so be it. I'm sure he has done his research, I think there is alot of value in knowing the cars history. 28K is alot but if he were to buy a car he didn't know anything about he could send thousands to get a car in like condition.
