Did you know that most pirates that get caught red-handed are released?
International law dictates that the country of the ship that was attacked must decide to press charges, and must take custody of the pirates, and must prosecute them according to international law which has all kinds of loop holes, its really weak andhard to convict. then if they actually can convist them the country has to pay to imprison them and it makes them a target for hostage exchange. They don't want the hassle so they let the pirates go.

There was a documentary on TV the other day about a navy ship patrolling a high pirate area, I believe it was a Belgian navy ship IIRC.

They caught some pirates in the act but the country of the ship that was attacked refused to press charges. The pirates were forced to throw their AK-47s overboard but were set free.

AND GET THIS: The pirates didn't have enough gas or food or water to get back to shore and their motor wouldn't start. The Belgian navy vessel gave them gas, gave them food and water, and FIXED THEIR MOTOR!
International law forbids leaving anyone stranded in the open ocean, even if they are murdering POS. (Russia will probably have to pay the poor grieving widows of the pirates all kinds of money because they didn't help them get home).

More often than not, pirates get set free and get provisions so they can go get more weapons and do it all again.
I no longer feel bad for the merchant ships. I no longer feel bad that pirates capture a ship. they are asking for it with the BS bleeding heart liberal wimpy victim mentality.

If they want to get tough I'll care again. if they want to keep being wimps, they deserve the spanking they get.
