I got my XD subcompact 9mm about 4 weeks ago...love it. I've put ~600 rounds through it, all FMJ. Nearly everything goes into a baskeball size group at 25 yards, straight out of the box.
The only other pistol that I have put lots of rounds through is my Springfield 1911 .45. Love it too! The XD is my first 9mm.
My gun shop guy tried to sell me on the Kahr CW9 (for less money!) due to it's slimness, but the XD fits me really well with the 16 rd mag. and isn't too bad with the 13 rd mag. And I like the grip and trigger safety set up (although I would like it more with a 1911 style thumb safety).
