I recall as a kid they on base in Germany they would do these safe driving "displays" a couple of times during the year.
They would get a wreck from the boneyard, add some damage then torch it, toss in a fake charred mutilated body and park it outside the main gate for a week.
40 some odd years later I can recall them clear as day.
