Those guys were gods here when I was a kid, as a season ticket holder I went to dozens of games a season during those years. I have had many many many chances to skate with those guys and talk hockey. The HBO special was great and the period correct look of all those guys with the sideburns and silk shirts was classic.
About 12 years ago I was playing in a charity game vs. the Flyers Alum team, I was about to take a faceoff vs. Rick MacLeish, as I moved in I said to him, "I'll buy you a beer after the game if you let me win this faceoff"... he looked up at me and said "the beer is free after the game" just at the ref dropped the puck. Then he gave me a wink.
Yea the Habs were on a mission last night and they blew the Flyers off the ice. The Flyers had more turnovers in the first period than they had in the previous two games. No one expected a sweep.
