At some point they decided to make it not a supernatural show anymore...probably as they lost viewership.
They dropped the numbers. Why babies died. Where the Others came from. Who built the Donkey wheel after Nemesis was murdered? How in the heck did the Island flashy? Who and why were the Temple and Statue built? Why was Aaron so damned important during the first two seasons (with the psychic and the dreams and such), then suddenly...hey, lets drop him off with grandma and ignore that character from here on out.

Also, what happened with the bomb?
