I'm surprised. I've had my G1 completely submerged (a couple of inches) in clean water twice. A little drying time (2 weeks each time) and it's running like a top to this day. I've heard that iPhones are wusses when it comes to water, but I've also heard that folks have them come back.
I had a digital Seiko watch back in the 80s that got washed in the washing machine multiple times with a broken crystal, full of water, dried out and it was fine. That worked until I accidentally dunked it in the ocean. Salt water and digital watches are a bad combo. Wish I still had that watch.
