I had a digital Seiko watch back in the 80s that got washed in the washing machine multiple times with a broken crystal, full of water, dried out and it was fine. That worked until I accidentally dunked it in the ocean. Salt water and digital watches are a bad combo. Wish I still had that watch.
My wife dropped her Blackberry in a puddle of mud at a construction site.

Was there for a couple of hours before she found it.

Took it apart, mud in every nook n cranny. Hit it with a fresh soft bristle toothbrush. Worked fine.

Sometimes you get lucky.
