Been there, done that. See the "pitbull" thread- train them while they're young, or you're screwed when they're teenagers.

I have seen this advice a lot - stop feeding him and he'll eat at dinner. Unfortunately if you don't feed them when they are hungry then they get even more whiny and cranky. So...yeah - that'll help.
