This may or may not help as I have an older car, but the way mine works is the the ring attaches to two mounting points on the clamshells (steering column covers). The hub fits to the wheel with the allen heads, with the assembly sliding onto the column spline. A wire coming off the signal switch bundle attaches to the tab on the ring. An independent wire is used to connect the horn button to its "contact the ring thing with the spring".... ring+hub+wheel
I suspect once you pull your existing system apart it will be fairly (lets hope) obvious.
