The Boxster engine sounds like a great idea, especially with no limit on budget. If you are looking at costs, then I can't think of a better conversion than a Subaru EZ30R engine. Looking at around $1500 to $2000 for the engine and Subaru 5spds are cheap. 250 reliable horsepower and a 240lb. engine weight. That is a savings of 100 to 200 pounds over a Boxster engine, LS1, 3.6 911 engine. The best bank for the buck, and it still is a horizontally-opposed engine.
