Hot and I dont get it.

My 76 is running pretty hot and it happens pretty quickly.. I was just about to drive to the beach but now Im gonna have to park it.

I spent a few hours yesterday looking thru posts and decided I was running too much ignition advance as I was seeing 35 at 5-6k... so I brought it down to 30 and no change.. then I disconnect my vacuum retard and set it per the label on the engine to 5 atdc.. which gave me about 25 at 5-6k.. still running 240F with an ambient temp of 90 today.. this was no issue when it was cooler of course but now that its hot.. its not driveable.. I used and IR thermostat on the temp sensor it concurs with the gauge in the car..

Im running backdated heat exchanges and my heat is disconnect and capped.. 11 blade fan.. this thing should be running cool.

Trombone is so hot I cant touch it... car should be cool...

I will say this, at high rpms im seeing a 5 degree "shake".. so looks like my distributor has seen better days.. but still..

Also, the marks do not make sense to me.. my label shows Z1 on the right and an arrow to the mark to the left of that.. and says 5 ATDC.. Ok that makes zero sense.. the engine runs clockwise so Z1 would be advance of the mark to the left correct?

Yeah I could go buy a cooler and band aid this but something tells me this california car should be running cool with the mods done to it..

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
