A large corporation known as "The Freedom Group" now owns Marlin, Remington, and a host of other recognizable names in the firearms industry. They have no plans for changing anything other than the location of production plants for any of their recent acquisitions. All will remain in the United States.
Marlin have been struggling in their native Connecticut for some time. Labor rates are quite high in the old firearms producing regions of the U.S., forcing many manufacturers to move elsewhere. Some have chosen to go overseas. Some have gone down south, or out to Arizona, but all for the same reason - producing firearms in the Northeast has become prohibitively expensive.
That said, I'll be keeping my eye on Marlin. They were one of the last of the "old school" firearms manufacturers. I own a good number of guns from Marlin, being a lever gun fan. We'll see how it goes...
