Man, tell me about it. I am primarily a backpacker these days (have approximately 4k miles under my belt at this point) and have done some fairly serious mountaineering in the past as well... both are very weight-conscious pursuits.
Just today I returned from a 3 day/2 night canoe trip in Maine, and the luxuries that paddling affords are pretty hard to ignore. We had a cooler to keep the steaks cold, bottles of wine, a cast iron dutch oven and skillet, the works.
