There are most definitely courses that put Andrews car at a disadvantage. More open courses with fast transitions have always been weak point for hamilton car. Andrew can only compensate for lack of car under him so much. Slower speed courses tend to favor 1500 lb car like his.
I have had my best success against Andrew on courses designed by SCCA drivers. Bigger more open courses where Andrew cant use weight advantage quite as well. I have been within a tenth or 2 of him on those more open course designs as his 914 just cant hold high speed high G transitions as well.
As far as performance goes it ended up pretty much how I thought it would. Lighter more powerful 914's leading the way. But honestly not by as I thought they would? Ken J was right there and he only ran AM runs Saturday.
I'm confident I banged a 30 something but timer crapped out on two of my fast runs. I did hit a 31 flat so margin of victory Andrew is holding over a car and driver that is nearly 700 lbs heavier with similar power to his car is not bad in my estimation. I was nt there to win but I sure do talk a good game and we did get a big bunch of 914's so my smack talk did something to get cars out! We had to make major suspension changes between AM and PM but once I got settled in I was back on track to chase the leaders down just happened a little late in the game.
Ken J and Steve L really were shining stars of the day. They were at extreme disadvantage on Saturdays course.
But course really wasnt ultimate test of car being driven it was more a drill first to see who could make it through all very tight gates with out huge coneage and then trying to find your way around.
It was good course to find weakness in my car's setup and now I'm off working on slow turn improvements.
