As a former SAN Architect I can tell you, it is a blast. I loved designing the layouts and all of the cool technology...
I changed from SAN Architect to Pre-Sales Engineer and I love it even more. I get to architect lots of solutions, see lot's of environments, and NEVER have to worry about the SAN going down at 2a on Saturday or doing an upgrade after hours....etc.
