The official ruling was that Maurice Edu was offside when he scored.

What that means is that he moved past the last Slovenian defender without haveing possession of the ball.

If you watch the part of the video were it shows the goal from above it's clear he was not off side.

I saw the game live and could not believe the ref disallowed the goal.
But I have seen many teams loose because of a bad decision. It's never easy to accept.

Just one last thing to remember...

One of the rules of Soccer is that once the ref makes a decision he can't recant and change that decision regardless of what may or may not have happened.
I know it sounds extraordinary but that's a FIFA rule.
