...but it also accounts for the highest chance for metal to metal contact resulting in exponential wear rates. Cold starts when there's only a light film of oil on things with no pressure behind it (obviously) to keep the oil clearances fed, especially if it takes too long for oil pressure to build up, is where alot if not most of the mechanical wear is going to happpen on a street car, assuming you maintain it well with good oil otherwise. Loss of oil pressure leaves you with between mere seconds to a couple minutes before catastrophic damage/failure...ask me how I know (...and bearing shell babbit is so soft you can mark it with your fingernail). Magic elixers are going to help about as well as shimming the OPRV will to fix low pressure. It's better to use a high quality oil and correct whatever problems could be causing slow oil pressure buildup. A cheap oil filter without a good drainback prevention valve can cause it, as could a cheap filter that's restrictive (Fram is only useful for throwing at people you don't like

). I've heard a cracked oil pickup will also cause slow oil pressure buildup on startup and they are known to crack now and then. I guess a worn out oil pump or a sticking OPRV could cause it as well. Using oil too thick for the temperature can also cause it (like 20W50 in the winter mostly...).
Mobil1 filters are pretty much rebranded K&N's, so they are a top choice as well.
