I just bought a 1999 996 about 6months ago with 47000. LONG STORY SHORT . The oil temperature gauge fluctuates when going aroung curves. Does not drop below 3 however. Dealer said I need a new engine for 15,000 dollar(rebuilt). He has already replaced the oil pump and oil sending unit.
Funny thing is the car runs and sounds great.
Wish I had a chance to do it all over again and not buy the car.
