I have a very similar setup as you describe, and tried throwing it over the fence for about a year. It never bothered me until one day when I had a big group of friends over for a cookout and we were playing boccie ball. Whenever we got to the back of the yard everyone would ask where that ***** smell was coming from. And let me tell you, within a ~30 radius of that corner, it smelled BAD. Like a septic system. Ever since I have scooped it up and put it in well sealed trash bags. I instantly felt bad for all of my neighbors who share that corner of my yard.
