Had a couple. They tend to like odd stuff. Apples believe it or not. The boy was only partial to Grannie Smiths while the girl was less discriminating. We'd leave a bowl out and they'd help themselves.
The boy liked grapefruits as well. We'd toss them to him whole. Don't recommend doing it inside though, can get messy.
You using a big dog feeder or otherwise raising their bowls? The mastiff should be eating/drinking off of something at least 12 inches high.
