My personal plan is:
1. When my co-worker gets his (soon), do a side-by-side comparison, mostly interested in web page load speed and general responsiveness.
2. If iPhone 4 is much better, may upgrade now.
3. If iPhone 4 is not much better, wait 6 months to see if ATT network gets better and/or current rumours about VZ iPhone get more solid/are disproven.

ATT network has improved in my area, but still needs to get better. Absent significant improvement, I'm reluctant to commit to another 2 years with ATT - would rather keep using my iPhone 3G for a while longer and then switch to an iPhone 4 on another carrier.
