In the paper it said that Elin discovered during this process that Tiger had much more than the $1 billion she originally thought.
This seems like really bad lawyering from Tiger's side. Her initial demand was something like $375 million. How tiger's lawyer's could take an opening offer (which is usually something the other side already thinks is really high), and then end up paying double that, is incredible.
