Yesterday I also attempted to get my '96 Kaw ZXI 750 and my '97 SeaDoo running for the summer. The SeaDoo battery is toast (it was marginal last summer every time it sat for a week or so). The Kaw battery charged fine, but the main ignition switch must have corrosion on the contacts.... After a bit of wiggling on/off and if I hold it just out of the "on" detent position, the idiot lights come on and it starts.... let go of the switch and it dies. I simply need to tear the switch apart and clean the contacts and it will be good to go.

All of these things differ slightly depending on years/makes but all typically have tether cord switches that must be checked along with the main ignition. You just need to study the wires to figure out how your system works and then check switches for proper contact with an ohm meter.

Men do not quit playing because they get old.... They get old because they quit playing.
