My mentor, a CEO of a fortune 500 company from the 70's would probably call it "ruthlessness". Someone has to make the hard decisions.
And it's lonely at the top, or so he says.
I'm sure depending on situation, an appropriate action is required, so to generalize like this is vague. But makes for an interesting NPR program.
