I was a corner worker on the track.
It was an autocross run for two days with five or six hundred cars with 5 laps each. There is always the potential for some first timer to way over cook a corner. It was all under the provisions of PCA national and safety and legal issues are paramount. There was no real danger just over caution in my opinion. The national club has many thousands of autocrosses run by regions all over USA, Canada & Puerto Rico. I am sure some incident somewhere involved a lawsuit so the rules go to overkill safety.
I was a safe distance from two corners. It was a challenging course and I did poorly driving it. My tires are new, the tire pressures were not right. Bottom line is I messed up on each run in some different way. I still finished in the middle of the pack.
