Leland, I don't think it matters what rotaional position the alternator is in, provided its wired correctly and you have the air deflector attached properly. I would be somewhat shy about putting grease in near the clutch. I only lubed the spline a little bit, but thats all. I beleive the TO bearing is internaly lubed so no need. I could be wrong.
