Rocker faces: cast, forged, heat treatment, hard chrome and other coating Qs

I have been puzzled by the myriad options on rockers faces. Regound cast rockers need to be heat treated and oil quenched to ensure proper face hardness to ensure proper wear characteristics. Forged need hard chrome faces.

What is it about the forged rockers that requires them need chroming versus simple heat treatment? The alloy is more dense and uniform in grain...would it wear the cams too quickly? Chrome is very hard but also has excellent lubricity and wear characteristic...is this the equalizer that makes a harder coating suitable?

Then there are cams. Stock cams and most aftermarket blanks play nice with cast rockers. The exception are Schrick cams, which camgrinder says require chromed rockers. Why do they eat normal rockers...too hard?

Given the above, what about coatings? DFL (Dry Film Lubricant) seems popular on cast rockers and OEM cams. What about other coatings like CVD applied coatings like Titanium Nitride, Cubic Boron or DLC (Diamond Like Coating)? What about on forged (or cast, for that matter) rockers instead of hard chrome or even on the Schrick cams?

Anyeone with their noodle wrapped around these items, I am itching for your thoughts...
