I view nearly all furry creatures on my property other than our pets as pests. They all suffer the same fate if me or my wife or my daughters see them.
Luckily we still live in a rural farming area where the likes of PETA would not be welcome by anyone including most of the local law enforcement.
That said, I have never took a shot at a deer on our property as they are too much hassle to get rid of. (not to mention it is illegal and the thought of going to jail or paying a big fine at this point pisses me off more than the thought of one of the bastards running out in front me when landing my airplane or jumping in front of my car driving to work... that could change someday if the deer herd keeps growing)
