Slodave, I can now say "been there done that"

I noticed at the last autocross I was having trouble shifting. I drove the Chicago & back with a shifter that was a pain to get into 1st & second. At the autocross yesterday I decided it was time to fix it. It is a ROYAL PAIN to get the center console out of a 1985 Carrera. I got everything apart and this is what I found.

I think I found my problem! The bushing was in two pieces. I did not have time to get everything back together so I have not driven it with the new bushing yet. I can't wait to experience the new and improved shifting. For those that don't know, the black bushing right behing the two pieces is what the bushing is supposed to look like.
