Exactly. I go even one step further and add
"acceptance of funds in excess of the minimum amount due constitutes agreement that such funds shall be applied immediately to Principal balance".
Some creditors will sit on extra payment checks until the end of the year, fiscal year, or whatever. I also write one check, including both the payment due and the overpayment.
