Hmm.. a 2.5L Golf gets 27ish mpg, a Golf TDI, 35 according to the epa, an increase of 25%. Currently Diesel is 12% over regular gas(2.88 vs. 2.55). Do the math.
I've talked to some people here at work and they have the same mentality. That the gas is cheaper therefore it's cheaper to run without actually running the numbers.
