This thing might have DOT or EPA fine print keeping it out. Crash tests, particulates - who knows? Saw a dock full of Eastern European SUVs in the 1990s with the same issues.
Yes, many things in India (and Mahindra) are low tech and robust. Not sure this thing meets modern US standards.
