For those of you that might be interested in what Chris at San Jose might be doing.
Just finished downloading the last pics taken.
These are taken in Chris's skunk works at SJBMW. He is doing some very trick stuff to the S1000RR.
This is a S1000RR head mounted on his flow bench with some trick mounting hardware, Chris is a very good fabricator and welder of most any type of metal. His flow bench is completely computer controlled, it will incrementally open the valve an exact amount and record the flow rates and any other parameters that he is studying. His bench can adjust any potential throttle body opening so the computer will plot everything in a series of graphs. His philosophy is that you get HP one at a time.
The head of the SKRR engine is right out of their F1 effort, the combustion chambers are machined not cast. The cams are hollow, the cam sprockets are sloted so that the cam timing can be changed. All that is after market on Jap liter engines. The attention to detail and engineering is unbeliveable. As you might know, they are also racing the Aprilia V4 in AMA super bike. To Chris's suprise, there is no comparison in the two engines.
