Used to love reading Robert E Howard as a youth. Had all the gore, women, magic, monsters and adventures in foreign lands that a kid needs.
Straightforward writing style, same as Pete Dexter and Mike Royko.
It seems Frazetta Sr., the best cover artist of the series(yes better than Bell or Valeho), was suffering from dememtia in his later years, while his wife and son Frank Jr. were running his museum.
There apparently was inheritance/planning issues between the children.
Wife then dies, and the son tries to "retrieve" the paintings(with unknown motivation) worth tens of millions using a backhoe.

Frazetta Sr. says this was without his knowledge, so cops arrest Jr.
Frazetta Sr. passes, and the paintings are now being sold off.
