"Cool Hi-
No, not the island state....I said hello.
My name is Norm, and I live in Wilton Manors with my boyfriend of 7 years. I just discovered this site, and it looks like lots of fun.
Me: I fly for Kalitta Air, a part 121 ACMI all-cargo airline, where I am a Captain. We fly 747 classics exclusively, both -100's and -200's, and we take them around the world each month. We are of note because we have glass cockpits in all the planes, and we are modifying the planes to incorporate electronic engine gauges and an electronic flight bag at each pilot station. NO more Jepps to revise!
He: Olivier, my boyfriend from Belgium. I moved from Orlando, he moved from Belgium, and WE bought a waterfront house in Wilton Manors last year. We moved in one day after hurricane Wilma [no damage] went through- listen, carrying couches down stairs in the dark isn't any fun, trust me! He runs an investment company in Fort Lauderdale. I met him in Brussels.
The: Hiring pool at Fedex, where I'm swimming. I've worked at 5 airlines, and taught people to fly for four years at Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach. 8000 hours, mostly in jets.
We: Rented a 152 last year from an FBO in Marathon, Florida and I took Olivier flying over the keys. His eyes were as big as saucers! He burned two disposable cameras taking pictures, and loved it. I take him flying each year on his birthday in September. We are both 40 years old.
-I always take a few laps around the pattern with an instructor before I take him flying; I have a tendency to flare at 50 feet for some reason, then realizing my mistake...release the yoke forward again. Then flare again...then release...etc. The whole time the instructor is giving me a funny look and I'm like "Where-the-hell-is-that-runway-at..." WHAM!
Anyway-
I'll have interesting things to say from time to time, and different perspectives I suppose. I'll try not to be too boring or long winded...
