My boss is a muscle car guy and sometimes shares his Hot Rod with me. There are often some pretty good general DIY articles. One in the September issue on charging a dead Optima.
I scanned the article to a .pdf, but can't do an attachment in my post. Here's photo from the article that kind of sums it up. Optima recommends that you first hook a good battery in series to the dead one (pos to pos, neg to neg), then hook the good battery to the charger. Hot Rod claims that tried it multiple times successfully. They also claim it work on non-AGM batteries too.
It's a 3 page article in the Sept issue, if you are near a magazine stand, you can read it in a few minutes. Thought it was a great tip and wanted to pass along.
