IMHO, if you own an Optima or any AGM you MUST use a battery tender. If you use a battery tender these will last and last. Consumer reports recently rated the Diehard Platinum, Deka and Optima as the top 3 in group 34R which is what we use. Yes. Top 3 are all AGM's. However, Once you allow it to go dead... (i.e. you have not taken care of it...) your probably going to need to replace it. I keep mind on a permanent tender when its not being driven.
