Differences EA (W) and EB-Engine?

Hi Gents,

I recently purchased by "mistake" a EB-Engine for my 181 thing. I was told it to be the US-Version of the 1.7 80hp W-engine, but now I learned, that EB is the Californian Version with lower compression and 72hp.

My questions are:
  • What are the differences between EA and EB?
  • How is the lower compression achieved?
  • Can I easily rise rompression or make the EB work like a EA?

I´d like to use the engine as it is, i.e. a 1.7 with fuel injection, but the EA has more torque and thus makes more fun, I assume ...

These are the specs I found:

W, EA: 8,2 : 1
EB: 7,3 : 1

W, EA: 132 NM bei 2700 U/min
EB: 121 NM bei 2700 U/min

W, EA: 59 kW (80 PS) / 4900
EB: 53 kW (72 PS) / 5000

Thanks in advance.
FF
