I worked on the contract (Contract Rep for the vendor) for USPS' current tracking system. The not so inside joke was that the package would be delivered well in advance of any receipt of delivery confirmation. Unless things have changed since I left, USPS did not buy wireless capability; all delivery confirmations were held until the handheld device was docked at the end of the day. Despite that shortcoming, I was consistently impressed with USPS as a service provider. Say what you will about their inefficiency, monopoly position on 1st class mail and very strong labor union, but, the fact remains that they do provide a good service at a fair price, or, as my KO counterpart always said "where else can you have a letter delivered from the east to west coast for the price of a stamp?"

As Newman said " the mail just keeps coming and coming and coming...."
