I just passed on a 68 or 69 convertable E type for 15K. Fresh paint. Interior was worn. Ran like a top. It was a killer deal. I think your car is a better time machine. Brakes are no big deal but the parts are expensive. Carbs and fuel delivery system could be gummy. Again. No big deal.
Can you keep this? It is a beautiful car! The six cylinder E types are very special. Coupes don't have the top of market pricing that the convertables have but seem to be less seen. I have no ideas about production numbers.
Don't be discouraged by my deal mentioned above. It was the bottom of the market on a great day. There should be a bunch of Jag fans somewhere that can help you on this. When was looking at that convertable, I got the sense that most classic jag owners hire their work and really get hosed by the mechanics. These are still simple cars. If you are handy, do it yourself.
