Been in Santa Monica for almost a year, previously lived in west LA since 2002, was inland before that (Pasadena and Claremont) so I know all about the typical heat. This is the oddest summer I've seen in 47 years of SoCal living (subtract 1.5 years for SF/Berkeley). Our June Gloom is extending into August with no end in sight. We've had about 3 "high/normal" days so far where it got out of the 70's. But SM only gets hot (say 90) a few days out of the year, and in SoCal Sept is the hottest month so we've still got time. But it has been miserable beach weather so far. Right now it is reminding me of SF - 4pm, cloudy outside and in the 60's. Well, in SF it would probably be in the 50s this time of year with blowing fog
