I bet it's just stuck in the casting (though I have never had a 901). Wire brush and some Kroil, no heat if it's a mag case but if not a propane torch on the cast part and try twisting the cable (outside sheath) end. A couple
light taps (from right to left in the pic) on the cable sheath end being careful not to bust the casting after soaking a day or so. Of course I may be way off, but that's what I would do..
