Bumping a year old thread...

Anyone know how to install these? I'm making new door panels for my 1970 restoration. They were originally 1/4 inch luan plywood, and my re-creations are as well. The dealer said 'sure those door panel clips are available'. Then I got those pictured at the top of this thread. The originals (or I presume the originals) had a narrower but deeper head and neck, pushing through from the outside and then held with a screw from the inside through the neck.

I guess these new clips sort of screw in, angling the cut-out in the base through the hole in the panel. But it seems like there's no way this will work through original-sized holes. The material's both too thick and the hole too small to get these even started. My next step is to drill it out a bit and use a big bit around the hole to thin it. But I'd sure like to know how large and how thick a hole these are meant to go through.

Thanks,
Mike
