I like Spring, lots of inexpensive housing around there, you go much South of there and it can get sketchy.
Sports Bar, SRO on 1960, Montgomery Co Fair and Cookoff, Cajun Catfish Festival both up in Conroe are a lot of fun.
He could rent a decent place on Lake Conroe for a grand. I get a grand a month for a 2000 sq ft place there. Might be bulletin board at Montgomery County Community College with people looking for room mates, just a bit North of Spring.
