Speaking of bucks, I recently commented to a restaurateur, re the outrageous price of his venison; "Whoa, big bucks!" I said. "No, the big bucks are tough. We serve only the younger, more tender bucks" he said rather haughtily.
I get irascible at ANY degree of haughtiness
, but contained my rage and said (a tad snidely I'll admit), "I mean, that's dear".
He looked down his nose at me and said with a smirk "Yes it is. Are you of the ilk that prefers elk?"
So I said "I'm outta here, you irritating sunnovabilfitch!" and left.
