I have a 964 with 255/40 R17 Potenzas on the rear. I noticed some thumping this weekend and when I checked it out, I found not 1 but 3 blisters on the left inside sidewall.

On the 964, this is where the exhaust header wraps around and goes into the cat. There's a heat shield, but, I'm still guessing the tire failure is heat related.

Question: Any of you had a similar failure?
