163,000 944s were built. In comparison, before that, there were 118,000 914s built.. .. But the 914s all rusted out in comparison. There have also been over 200,000 BOXSTER built just for comparison. As such, there are still a lot of 944's out there. But with time, many have fallen into disrepair.. as owners are shocked at the cost to keep them maintained properly.

So, the value of GOOD condition cars (ie, original, unripped interiors, dashes, exterior panels, new clutches, working electrics etc etc) should go up as examples get scarcer each year. I hope to see 944 values rise up a bit.. and at 20-28 years old they should. 914s took nearly 30 years to rise back up in used car value.
