Marriott at the Ren Center is quite nice, and reasonably priced. Lovely views of the river. I'm there 4 or 5 times a year.
Take all the "ohmigod-you're-going to die-in-downtown-Detroit!!" hysteria from visiting Californians with the huge shaker salt it warrants.
